96 miliardi di euro le giocate effettuate in un anno, con vincite pari a 77 miliardi di euro, 9 miliardi a rimpinguare le casse dello Stato. Sono i numeri del gioco legale in Italia riferiti all’anno 2016, diffusi dall’Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli. Dati che la dicono lunga sulla passione degli italiani per il gioco e la voglia di cambiare la propria vita sfidando la dea bendata con “la” puntata vincente. Quello del gioco è un settore in espansione, con numeri da capogiro, che fa da sempre leva sui sogni e sui desideri di tanti giocatori.
Rispetto al 2008 le puntate sono raddoppiate passando da quasi 48 milioni di euro ai 96 dello scorso anno. La parte del leone spetta alle slot machine, sia le “vecchie” AWP, tanto care ai frequentatori di bar e tabaccherie, sia le video lottery, che offrono una nuova esperienza di gioco: grazie principalmente a loro arrivano quasi 6 miliardi di euro nelle casse dello Stato rappresentando, rispettivamente, il 27% ed il 24% delle giocate effettuate. Altri 3,5 miliardi di entrate erariali si suddividono fra Lotto, Gratta&Vinci e Superenalotto.
Ecco il podio della classifica per regioni, sempre riferito all’anno 2016:

- Lazio, con il 10,61% di giocate;
- Campania, con il 9,76%.
A dare un quadro più dettagliato sulla tipologia di giocatori del Bel Paese è la ricerca sulla percezione sociale del gioco d’azzardo condotta dalla Fondazione Bruno Visentini su incarico della Fondazione spagnola Codere, una multinazionale che opera nell’ambito del gioco lecito. L’indagine, realizzata in collaborazione con Ipsos (azienda che effettua ricerche di mercato) su un campione di 1600 intervistati, mostra come il 44% degli italiani tra i 18 ed i 75 anni abbia giocato almeno una volta nel corso del 2016. I giocatori sono concentrati per lo più nel Sud Italia e nelle Isole ma al Nord si spende di più. Circa l’1% si mostra giocatore problematico, prevalentemente uomo adulto, fra 45 e i 75 anni, appartenente ad una condizione economica medio-bassa.
La ricerca fa emergere anche un altro dato, sfatando il mito che siano principalmente le persone bisognose a ricorrere al gioco d’azzardo: il 47% dei laureati, infatti, risulta fruitore dei servizi di gioco legale. Lo studio conferma anch’esso lo strapotere delle slot machine e offre anche un altro spunto di riflessione indicando una distinzione di genere tra i fruitori dei giochi leciti: il gentil sesso predilige la “Lotteria Italia”, gli uomini il “Superenalotto” ma il “Gratta&Vinci” è il più amato di tutti con il 62,8% di preferenze.
Si delinea più chiaramente anche l’identikit del giocatore online: giovane, uomo, diplomato, con un’età compresa fra 25 e 34 anni e con la passione per le scommesse sportive. Il comparto del gioco online, del resto, offre sempre più servizi e aumentano anche le applicazioni per smartphone che consentono di giocare in qualunque momento, scegliendo la soluzione più adatta alle proprie possibilità.
